South Coast Challenge 100k – August 2019

During August Sam Hyslop and Luke Oliver took part in 100k challenge along the South Coast.  It wasn’t easy but we followed them all the way and they raised over £2,300!

Here’s a few words from Sam:

“This year myself and Luke Oliver attempted what I can only describe as the most emotionally, mentally and physically draining challenge we have taken on for the JETF. Having previously ran half marathons and jumping out of planes we wanted to push ourselves to raise as much as possible for what is truly worthy cause and ran by the most amazing people in Tracy and John Evans. This challenge involved running/walking 100km (62 miles) In a 24 hour period across the Brighton coastline. As many people reading this will know Josh Evans passed away 11 years ago after suffering a hypoglycaemic attack whilst driving. Josh suffered from type 1 diabetes and the trust fund works tirelessly to raise funds to help support people with the condition and help raise awareness. Josh was a good friend and therefore the challenge was set for us to raise more funds for this great cause. With minimal to no training we set off from Eastbourne at 7am in high spirits thinking it would be literally a walk in the park. As we passed the half way mark night started to fall, blisters had formed and popped and chaffing was occurring in places it shouldn’t ever exist however determined we pushed through and managed to complete the event in 22 hours. This was followed by 2 days of been unable to move! But the pain was worth it as through the night the donations kept flying in and thanks to everybody’s generosity we raised over £2300! The work Tracy and John put in day in and day out for this cause is unbelievable and if you are thinking of pushing yourself for charity I would recommend you support this amazing cause.”
