Books provided for Royal United Hospital in Bath

The Paediatric Diabetes Team based at the Royal United Hospital in Bath would like to thank the Josh Evans Trust for the donation of 30 Carbs and Cals books which we are now able to give to all of our newly diagnosed young people and their families. Counting carbohydrates is an important part of good diabetes management and these books really help families come to grips with what is often a new concept at a stressful time.

JETF Supports parent support group at Musgrove Park Hospital

The Children’s Diabetes Team at Musgrove Park Hospital are running a meeting group for parents in West Somerset whose child has been diagnosed with diabetes since the start of 2012.

In general we hope that the group will offer a chance to:

meet and learn from other families whose child has diabetes

  • share experiences and helpful advice
  • discuss fundraising/social ideas
  • request teaching on topics of interest from other members of the team

A Diabetes Specialist Nurse and the Clinical Psychologist will attend and lead the group, but parent’s input will be an essential part of the process and the sessions could be shaped around their preferences. The group will meet for 7 sessions, once a fortnight, with sessions lasting about an hour and a half.

Annual Kilve Activities Camp 2012

I am writing to say a big thank you to The Josh Evans Trust Fund and there supporters…….not just for enabling these residential activity trips to be offered each year, but also for attending and supporting the event this time. It was really lovely to have Tracy, Avril and Joan there and we all learn so much from spending time with the children on these events.  I really wish this was something that I could have done with Josh all those years ago! – Michelle Gardiner Paediatric Diabetic Specialist Nurse
