FATFACE Taunton raise funds with cake sale

Many thanks to FATFACE Taunton for choosing The Josh Evans Trust Fund as this years beneficiary, and for raising over £700 towards are annual activity trip to Kilve.

Fatface

The Team at Taunton raised funds during their company wide charity week. Instead of having a black Friday sale the company distributes a proportion of profits to charities. Anyone making a purchase in any FatFace store or online between 21st and 28th November 2016 will have helped benefit hundreds of local charities. learn more

The Taunton store decided to maximise funds raised by having a cake sale, and we wish to thank everyone involved for giving up their time to bake and sell cakes on Saturday 26th of November. Raising a magnificent total of £728.96

The money raised will go towards our annual activity trip to Kilve, where we take a group of youngsters away for a few days of activity. For many this is their first time staying away from home, learning how to be independent and gaining confidence administering their medication.

Thanks FATFACE Taunton

Summer Ball 2016

Well our 4th Summer Ball was another great success thank you to everyone who was involved in organising, attending and supporting the event.

It is amazing to say we have smashed it and all you wonderful people you know who you are we have raised over £6000 pounds “speechless springs to mind” because this has come against a back drop of a flooded marquee on the Wednesday before the ball ,having to fork out for a special floor to ensure the event went ahead and I hope you all agree it was worth it.

I think you will agree this is a great achievement for children with diabetes and their families in Somerset.

You have made us very proud and are definitely keeping The Josh Evans Trust Fund in everyone’s minds, since the ball we have had offers of fundraising and our just giving page has also had some generous donations .

Thank you to each and everyone of you for your love ,help ,support and generosity.

Lastly when we started on this journey it was to keep our sons memory alive and you have certainly helped us achieve that.

On behalf of the speechless trustees thank you ,a very proud charity to have such generous support.

Look forward to seeing you all again for our 5th Annual Ball to mark our 10th year of the Josh Evans Trust Fund in 2018.

Updated books on the way

Thanks to your continuing support we have been able to purchase more books for all three NHS teams in Somerset.

We are excited to have received the latest versions of Carbs & Cals and Type 1 Diabetes which are given to all newly diagnosed families.

WE have also purchased this new book for Yeovil team to use with younger children to see if they help, hopefully we will be able to provide these to all teams shortly.

New Dexcom machine purchased for Yeovil

Due to the success of the Dexcom equipment already supplied to Yeovil.

The Josh Evans Trust fund is proud to announce we have purchased a second unit for use in Yeovil.

This is a vital piece of equipment that will be used to help further support children in the South Somerset Area. This is the 4th Dexcom unit we have been able to purchase for use across somerset thanks to our amazing supporters, keep up the good work.

The Santa Express Experience 2015

The Santa Express 2015

This is the second year this lovely festive trip has been supported by the funding of both JETF and Balance Buddies.  It is proving very popular with around 60 people attending and everyone thoroughly enjoys it.  The children love the steam train experience and find it very exciting to meet Santa and receive a gift.  Everyone is offered refreshments on board….a drink and small chocolate bar for the children and a mince pie and festive beverage for the adults.  It is a wonderful opportunity for families with a child with diabetes across Somerset to get to know each other during a relaxed, fun event and the lovely WSR staff lead each carriage in the singing of a few carols along the way!

This year we had two unexpected events that will make the trip even more memorable – a tree on the line (due to a very windy night prior) and an extra special gift via Santa to one of our group…a marriage proposal and engagement (she said yes!).

What a great way to begin the Christmas celebrations!
