Thank you to Lewis Philips and The Grove Pub at Taunton for raising £285 with the Christmas Charity held at the pub.
A great night had by all.
Many thanks from all at JETF.
The Paediatric Diabetes Team based at the Royal United Hospital in Bath would like to thank the Josh Evans Trust for the donation of 30 Carbs and Cals books which we are now able to give to all of our newly diagnosed young people and their families. Counting carbohydrates is an important part of good diabetes management and these books really help families come to grips with what is often a new concept at a stressful time.
The Children’s Diabetes Team at Musgrove Park Hospital are running a meeting group for parents in West Somerset whose child has been diagnosed with diabetes since the start of 2012.
In general we hope that the group will offer a chance to:
meet and learn from other families whose child has diabetes
A Diabetes Specialist Nurse and the Clinical Psychologist will attend and lead the group, but parent’s input will be an essential part of the process and the sessions could be shaped around their preferences. The group will meet for 7 sessions, once a fortnight, with sessions lasting about an hour and a half.

In May 2013, Tracy Evans met the Diabetes Paediatric Specialist Team from Royal United Hospital Bath, who support children with diabetes in the Mendip area including Frome, Glastonbury and Shepton Mallet.
Laura Bird Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse was keen to know how JETF supports children and their families. Since this meeting the trust fund has provided educational resources which include our road safety cards and back packing leaflets. We look forward to working with the team in the future and strengthening our presence in the Mendip area.
The Josh Evans Trust Fund (JETF) is proud to announce that we been chosen by SI Taunton President, Ruth Demenis as their chosen charity for the year.
Tracy Evans, JETF founder, spoke at SI Taunton’s Club meeting in May.
We very much look forward to working with President Ruth and the members of SI Taunton,(Tracy Evans) for more information please click here.

The Dexcom G4 is a continuous glucose monitoring sensor that monitors a person’s blood glucose continuously. A sensor is inserted into the abdomen and can remain there for 7 days. The Dexcom receiver shows the current blood glucose and alerts can be set to alarm for high blood glucose, low blood glucose, rapidly falling or rising blood glucose.
At the end of 7 days the receiver is downloaded and provides a summary report to allow the health care professionals and family to spot the trouble areas and look at ways to improve blood glucose control.
This piece of kit will be a valuable tool to enable us to provide us with the information we cannot otherwise obtain to help young people living with diabetes.
We are very grateful to the Josh Evans Trust for providing us with the Dexcom G4.
